Journalism Student and Pop Culture Fanatic
Hi and welcome to my website! My name is Ashley Ortega and I’m a senior at San Diego State University majoring in journalism. I hope to one day be able to write about the arts and entertainment. This website was home to all things JMS 430, but now it will also hold my capstone project for JMS 550, which is my final journalism class at SDSU.
My story for JMS 430 is on Disney Adults. Weird topic? I know right. Growing up super close to the theme park, I was a frequent visitor. So, Disney is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. For this reason, I wanted to spend this semester investigating Disney’s biggest fans and the entire culture they’ve built around Disney. For my JMS 550 story, I chose to report on thrifting and its impacts on sustainability. I love fashion and have tried to get more into thrifting the past couple of years because I know how badly fast fashion impacts our Earth. So, I thought I’d use my capstone project to delve deeper into it and inform the public.
